Meet the Gardener

“A garden is fully alive when it becomes a healthy, functioning ecosystem.”

Dale Batchelor, owner

Gardener by Nature

Welcome to Gardener by Nature. I’m Dale Batchelor, the owner. Gardener by Nature offers landscape consultations, garden talks, and workshops focusing on habitat gardens. Habitat gardeners use native plants for their benefit to birds and other wildlife, avoid the use of insecticides and chemical fertilizers, and employ other sustainable landscape practices that benefit the environment. As a frequent contributor to Triangle Gardener Magazine, I write about native plants and sustainable landscape practices.

As we lose farms and woodlands to population growth, how we manage our backyards, patios, and balconies plays an increasing role in supporting healthy populations of birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. I work with clients who wish to create outdoor living spaces that support native species and the surrounding ecosystem.

Gardener by Nature can help you develop landscapes that are both sustainable and maintainable. It’s important to consider not only a site’s physical characteristics but also the existing and surrounding plant and animal communities.

I provide initial garden consultations, workshops, talks and garden coaching.
